Rob’s 30-year anniversary reel is the accumulation of years of experience. He decided to build this legacy reel with the utmost precision using materials and processes that go way beyond the norm, such as such as multilayer, unidirectional carbon fiber.
He contracted with the manufacturer to be the only source for this very special ultra strong carbon fiber. No two reels will be the same because of the unique patterns and color of the carbon fiber. The crank handle arm is not carbon fiber. It is made from high strength aluminum alloy.
Titanium is also a major part of this anniversary reel. The spool shaft, the rotor hub, line roller and spool top ring are 6AL-4V grade 5 Titanium. The spool shaft is coated with diamond like coating (DLC). Ceramic bearings and drag system contribute to smooth running action, light weight, and heat dissipation from those hard drag runs. The Aluminum used is all high-grade aerospace material, specially processed and anodized to a beautiful gold luster.
